Darwin has a visitor scheduled for Monday whose professional kit includes broad horns, a bright grin, and an apparently championship-caliber wave. Rampage, the Los Angeles Rams mascot, joins Rams cheerleaders on an Armed Forces Entertainment tour of Australian military communities as the club’s Melbourne game draws near.
A five-stop warm-up
Armed Forces Entertainment lists five tour dates from September 1 through September 7: Canberra, Williamstown, two appearances in Alice Springs, and Darwin. The program promotes meet-and-greets and cheer clinics for service members and their families. A DVIDS Armed Forces Entertainment publication identifies Rampage as part of the visiting group.
The timing gives the trip a pleasingly oversized pregame feeling. The Rams and San Francisco 49ers meet at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on September 11 in the first NFL regular-season game played in Australia, according to the Rams. The club also plans fan experiences in Melbourne, including chances for visitors to meet Rampage.
